With the world witnessing a digital revolution, data is now the fuel that drives forward the 21st century. Big data is a collection of data that traditional software options cannot handle. Big data is everywhere and the big data revolution is upon us. Big data engineering is a demanding specialization that trains engineers to understand real-time data processing and build massive big data reservoirs. This paper is a primer on the various uses of big data in engineering.
