Review of Value Chain Analysis of Potato in Ethiopia

Potato has been considered as a strategic crop by the Ethiopian government aiming at enhancing food security and economic benefits to the country. The value chain of potato in Ethiopia was not developed due to lack of market and low-value addition to the product. Furthermore, the measure to solve the problem were limited partly for the reasons of little research and lack of attention on the issue. Therefore, this review was conducted to review potato production, management practices and its constraints in Ethiopia, review potato marketing and its constraints in Ethiopia and review potato value chain actors function and value addition. Potato production in Ethiopia was constrained by lack of land availability and lack of improved verities. There are different actors in potato production and value chain system from these suppliers, producers, wholesalers, collectors and consumers listed.
