URBAN COMPUTING: A PRIMER

The urbanization process has been accelerating worldwide, making cities becoming complex social ecosystems. Urban computing is an emerging field that seeks to solve problems in modern cities, such as traffic congestion, healthcare monitoring, air pollution, energy consumption, and public safety. Its goal is to develop computational solutions that make cities more livable, more eﬃcient, and better positioned for the centuries ahead. This paper provides a brief introduction to urban computing.
