Abstract

In current research work, Al2219 reinforced with constant 3% of Boron Carbide (B4C) and with varying Molybdenum di sulphide (MoS2) by method of stir casting technique. The prepared hybrid composites were examination under Scanning electron microscope for even disperse of reinforcement. CompactTension (CT) Specimen was prepared and test carried out in BISS axial universal testing machine to determining KIC parameter. From this study stability of crack propagation under mode-I failure is analysed. The study reveals that adding same amount of boron carbide and varying percent of molybdenum disulphide makes increase in energy required to open the crack and crack propagation is increased and also in increase fracture toughness.
